Strawberry Moon on June 11th Holds Overwhelming Power for Baneful Magick and Darker Metaphysical Practice
I am attempting to commit to write-ups on upcoming full moons and their significance to those of us who practice on the Left Hand Path. If you are unsure of what that is, it’s what is in modern day referred to as “Black Magick,” although, as you likely know if you follow me, I do not subscribe to black or white. There is only Magick. If you look up the upcoming Strawberry Moon, you will find an abundance of whimsical ritual ideas and blessings. But not so much that caters to us.
The Strawberry Moon occurs each June. This moon (also called Rose Moon) earned its name by coinciding with the brewing of early summer’s mead, and the vastness of flora across Europe. In Native American cultures, it marked the short time frame of harvesting fresh strawberries. It’s a large, beautiful moon, but like many of the color-titled lunar events, it is not actually pink or red. The universal power of this moon surrounds spiritual expansion as well as grounding and focusing on your overall path. And in the lighter side of things, it is often harnessed for rituals focused on personal growth, breaking free of anything holding you back, and colorful altar offerings to a variety of deities. But for the other “side” of spirituality, this moon has many benefits.
This year the Strawberry Moon will find itself in Sagittarius. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, planet of wisdom, growth, and cosmic law, which makes this lunation ideal for working magick related to personal truth, journeying, and releasing self-limiting beliefs. The energy is potent for dreamwork, intention manifestation, and calling in higher guidance. It offers an expansive and illuminating counterbalance to the deep, shadowy introspection stirred by Pluto Retrograde. While Pluto’s retrograde transit continues to draw us inward, urging reflection on power dynamics, suppressed fears, and psychological transformation, the Sagittarius Moon casts a beacon of fiery clarity. This lunar energy encourages us to step back and gain perspective on the emotional excavations we've been doing. In other words, shadow work. It helps us contextualize our inner work, reframing painful realizations as necessary steps on the soul’s journey toward liberation. It can also help us harness our pain and traumas into power catalysts for retaliatory and binding rituals. Sagittarius teaches that truth is not to be feared but sought, making this Moon a powerful ally in integrating what has surfaced from the depths.
This is an ideal time for rituals that transform shadow into wisdom. For example, journaling or spellwork focused on rewriting limiting belief systems uncovered during Pluto’s retrograde can be particularly effective. The Sagittarian energy empowers us to not just examine our darkness, but to ask, “Where did this originate, and how can I use this to my advantage?” Through this lens, the Full Moon becomes a mirror reflecting not just what haunts us, but what guides us forward. Magickal workings under this Moon might include vision quests, truth-telling spells, Black Mirror Scrying, Astral Travel into the depths, or fire ceremonies that transmute past pain into sacred understanding. In essence, the Strawberry Moon invites us to honor the shadow work with celebration, seeing it not as burden, but as brave initiation.
This night also presents a unique opportunity to harness expansive fire energy for deeply personal empowerment, spiritual sovereignty, and purposeful rebellion. Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter, aligns with law, gnosis, and liberation. But when worked through the lens of the Left Hand Path, this becomes a quest not for universal truths, but for one’s own divine will and higher self-mastery. Without learning that caliber of self-control you will never fully engage with the more dangerous and daunting entities you are probably seeking. So any opportunity for growth in that area must be embraced. This lunation assists with this quest. It amplifies the magick of forbidden knowledge, philosophical transgression, and self-deification, making it a potent time to engage in rites that assert the primacy of one’s personal power over external systems of morality or control.
Under Pluto’s ongoing retrograde, many are unearthing repressed identities and buried instincts. These primitive aspects of ourselves are crucial to unlock for not only self-preservation, but success. The Strawberry Moon’s Sagittarian fire offers a ritual window to claim, channel, and weaponize that raw revelation. Practitioners might conduct baneful workings that burn away lingering spiritual chains, or rites of invocation with underworld spirits, demons, or deities of knowledge and flame such as Belith, Aym, Prometheus, Asmoday, or Barbatos. It’s also ideal for ritual self-initiation, oath-taking, or crafting sigils that break spiritual conditioning. This Moon doesn't ask you to conform. It challenges you to ascend through the fire of truth, and in doing so, become the architect of your own path. In black magick, where shadow is embraced as sacred, this lunation becomes a blazing key to revelation, rebellion, and rise. Embrace it. Through self-exploration and unapologetic presence you can accomplish great things during this important lunar phase.
Be Blessed,
Dena
