Stop Blaming Mercury Retrograde. Spoiler Alert: Sometimes it's YOU.

The Fear-Mongering Continues around the Blood Moon Eclipse and Mercury Retrograde

Oh, here we go again - another Mercury retrograde, another blood moon eclipse, and another wave of "love and light" practitioners flooding social media with their tales of woe. While my Facebook feed fills with baby witches clutching their crystals and begging for protection spells, I'm over here manifesting homes during a housing crisis and watching my fiancé land dream jobs. Funny how that works, isn't it?

Let's talk about a recent post I stumbled across. Picture this: someone charges their crystals during a blood moon eclipse (as one does), and suddenly their house is in chaos. Objects moving, cats chasing invisible things, and family members fighting. Of course, the immediate response is to blame it all on Mercury retrograde and the eclipse. *eye roll*

Here's a wild thought - maybe, just maybe, the issue isn't the celestial events but rather their pre-existing inability to manage the energy in their space? If you spend the majority of your spiritual conversations using buzz words like “manifest” and “intention”, you should very well understand that this would apply during powerful celestial events more than any other time. I know, shocking.

But let's be real for a minute. As someone who practices what they would call “black magick”, I've noticed an interesting pattern. While the "love and light" crowd is busy fear-mongering and seeking validation in their online safe spaces, some of us are out here having our best magickal moments during these supposedly terrifying times. During this latest retrograde and eclipse combo, I've experienced nothing but enhanced clarity, successful manifestations, and powerful spell results.

The difference? I'm not sitting on Facebook asking strangers how to handle basic energy management. I'm not blaming planetary movements for my personal struggles. And I'm certainly not spreading fear about natural celestial events that have been happening since, oh I don't know, the beginning of time?

Let's break down why these periods are actually incredible for magickal workings:

Mercury Retrograde Benefits:

● Perfect for shadow work and deep personal reflection

● Excellent time for reviewing and revising past projects

● Enhanced intuitive abilities and psychic connections

● Powerful period for breaking bad habits and patterns

● Ideal for reconnecting with old friends or resolving past issues

● Strengthens divination practices and meditation work

Blood Moon Eclipse Energy:

● Amplifies manifestation power tenfold

●  Perfect for banishing work and cutting cords

● Exceptional period for transformation magick

● Heightens spiritual awareness and psychic abilities

● Ideal for ancestral work and communication

● Supercharges ritual tools and crystals (when done properly, that is)

Look, I get it. When you're new to practicing, these big magickal moments can feel overwhelming. But there's something to be said for actually experiencing things firsthand instead of immediately running to the internet for help. Your practice isn't going to grow if you're constantly operating from a place of fear and dependency on others' experiences. And if you approach a retrograde with the mindset it is inherently chaotic, then obviously you will manifest that negativity. And your intentions would be much more potent during this time. “Practice what you Preach”. If you spent two weeks prior to the blood moon eclipse preparing for negativity that is exactly what you will receive from the Universe.

Here's what I've learned through actually working with these energies rather than hiding from them:

● Mercury retrograde is fantastic for reflection and refinement

● Blood moons amplify magickal workings (yes, even the spooky ones)

● These periods are what you make of them - manifest fear, get fear. Manifest success, well... *gestures at my current situation*

That's not to say my entire existence is positive. Working with spirits, I obviously encounter difficulties. But, these things happen regardless of the current state of the external. And, if anything, this time would be the time to work on removing chaotic energy. Not running from it in fear.

So while everyone else is busy sage-bombing their houses and triple-checking their protection crystals, I'll be over here using these powerful times to get shit done. Because at the end of the day, magick isn't about living in fear of natural cycles - it's about working with them to create the reality you want.

But hey, what do I know? I'm just someone having a great time during Mercury retrograde. Maybe I should go make a Facebook post about how terrifying that is.

*Blessed be, or whatever* 🖤✨

Rewriting the Dark: Hekate in the Age of Comfort | From Blood to Bouquets: Hekate's Image in Modern Witchcraft

Recently, I mentioned a Facebook group post I had come across in which a young “witch” was expressing her concern for her friend using naughty baneful Magick. And so, naturally, she needed to know how to tattle-tale to the great Hekate, in hopes this peaceful Deity would punish her for her wicked ways. Come the fuck on. There are many Gods and Goddesses who are systematically being transformed into fluff bunnies. However, poor Hekate seems to be the most utilized victim of this injustice. And she is taking a huge hit in the reputation department to pander to this new wave of “baby witches” who seem to need weighted blankets and someone to hold their hand to simply wake up in the morning. Hekate is not a nature Goddess of safe darkness and theatrical dark romance. The true history of Hekate is far from the sanitized, benevolent image presented by many in contemporary spiritual circles. She was not a gentle guide or maternal protector, but a formidable and feared deity associated...

The Trad Witch Kitchen: Easy Banana Blueberry Bread - There is Magick in Everything We Do.

The Trad Witch Kitchen: Easy Banana Blueberry Bread Welcome back to The Trad Witch Kitchen ! I created this series because I truly believe that every aspect of our life is ritual and Magick . Our Spirituality doesn’t begin and end at the altar. When we live each moment with intention—whether we’re sweeping the floor, tending the garden, or baking bread—we align ourselves with abundance. Whether you work closely with Spirits, honor Deities, or simply dabble in Magick, remember this: you manifest through action and the subconscious. A clean home, a nourished body, a lovingly prepared meal—these are all sacred acts. For me, baking is a form of meditation. It centers me. There’s something so deeply fulfilling about making delicious food from ingredients I’ve grown myself or sourced ethically. And when I leave offerings to the house Spirits, Entities, or even Demons I find they carry even more power when they’re made with my own two hands—from herbs I’ve gathered or bread I’ve baked. ...
