RITUAL: A Blood Moon is Coming: A great time for drawing power, curses, hexes, and other Baneful practices.

This article contains a blood ritual.

Each month, we are blessed with the return of a full moon. Each with its own properties, backstories, and value. While I like to utilize the moon's affects most months, typically for simple tasks like recharging items or for specific hexes or curses, the most important moon (for me) is the Blood Moon. And no, it isn’t because of its edgy and ominous name, although that does make it much more intriguing. I typically save my larger ritualistic spells, curses, or targeted harassments for this particular moon. And, not just the actual eve of the moon but the week surrounding it. With that being said, a blood moon is not a set and titled affair, like the named moons of each month. Instead, it is a phenomenon in which a total lunar eclipse occurs. And, through the marvels of the universe, during this event blue light is filtered out (thanks to the Earth’s atmosphere), creating a blood-red, sometimes orange-tinged, full moon. This occurs each year, roughly 2 to 4 times. And so it is important to follow NASA on Facebook to keep your Magickal calendars up to date. Kidding, not really. Science and Mysticism always pair well.

In Magick, the eclipse itself brings on a powerful surge of energy and is very, very good for baneful and malevolent work, helping you as a practitioner to draw that power and darkness into your intentions. And of course, full moons in general create such immense amounts of spiritual currency that the two combined is obviously a perfect opportunity to hex a bitch. Or charge your crystals. Whichever. It is also a great time for resets. So, if you have been stuck, this is a good time to get unstuck. And, if you are suffering an affliction such as a spiritual or psychic attack, this would be the best time for rituals and undoings to remedy that. But, if you want to just keep it simple and still reap the benefits of this powerful event, without any ill intent (no fun), then I have just the ritual for you. This is applicable for all paths, as it is simply a ritual to help you to harness the moon's power into your physical and spiritual self.

This Ritual is Best Performed outside during the physical Eclipse. However, at your altar will do just as well.

Ritual Items:

  • A Knife (Clean and Sharp)

  • A Bowl Of Water

  • Black Salt (Enough to create a protective circle around yourself)

  • Choose a Spirit. I specifically work with Asmoday (Asmodeus); you can adjust according to whom you work with.

In your quiet workspace, silently focus on your own protection as you create a line of salt around you. Work in a counter-clockwise direction.

Once you have sealed your protected space, sit with it for some time and set your intentions, visualizing yourself being strengthened and protected in this space.

Your bowl of water should be directly in front of you and easily accessible. With your knife, make a swift and intentional slice to draw a small amount of blood. This is a minimal amount, so bloodletting is not needed for this ritual. Use your knife to collect the majority, and then place the tip into the water, stirring slowly in a counter-clockwise direction. Continue to stir as you recite the following as prescribed (reapply additional blood until your incision seals):

Asmodeus, Ashmedai, Asmoday

Asmodeus, Ashmedai, Asmoday

Asmodeus, Ashmedai, Asmoday

I call upon you, great Spirit and Guide.

I call upon you, shadowed Blood Moon.

With this knife, I stir up my inner strengths and desires.

With this blood, I give a vessel to transfer your energy to me.

With the power of the Blood Moon,

Empower me with knowledge, Strength, and otherworldly connection to the Universe.

My Eyes are Your Eyes.

My Heart is Your Heart.

My Voice is Your Voice.

My Blood is Your Blood.

See through me,

Feel through me,

Speak through me,

Asmodeus.

See through me,

Feel through me,

Speak through me,

Asmodeus.

See through me,

Feel through me,

Speak through me,

Asmodeus.

Discontinue stirring, and now it is time to sit and gaze at the water bowl. Focus deeply and directly on what you have requested. Visualize your mind and body being filled with the currents of the Universe; you will begin to feel flushed and hot after some time. Continue this until you are satisfied that it has worked.

To close, politely ask your Spirit to leave. Release them from their duty, thank them for their time and help, and then firmly close your circle by clearly instructing them not to return until they are summoned.

End of Ritual

Notes:

If this is your first ritual, it may not go quite as planned. Your courage, calmness, and focus have a lot to do with how these things work out. It is okay to fumble your words, make mistakes, and read off paper as you go. What matters most is your intent.

I hope this finds you well,

Be Blessed,

Dena

Rewriting the Dark: Hekate in the Age of Comfort | From Blood to Bouquets: Hekate's Image in Modern Witchcraft

Recently, I mentioned a Facebook group post I had come across in which a young “witch” was expressing her concern for her friend using naughty baneful Magick. And so, naturally, she needed to know how to tattle-tale to the great Hekate, in hopes this peaceful Deity would punish her for her wicked ways. Come the fuck on. There are many Gods and Goddesses who are systematically being transformed into fluff bunnies. However, poor Hekate seems to be the most utilized victim of this injustice. And she is taking a huge hit in the reputation department to pander to this new wave of “baby witches” who seem to need weighted blankets and someone to hold their hand to simply wake up in the morning. Hekate is not a nature Goddess of safe darkness and theatrical dark romance. The true history of Hekate is far from the sanitized, benevolent image presented by many in contemporary spiritual circles. She was not a gentle guide or maternal protector, but a formidable and feared deity associated...

The Wicked and Weird History of the Apple 🍎 31 Days of Halloween History
